Scum Recovery Process

The removal of the scum from the Clarifier will remove, also, about 2 to 3 % of the sugar, as solids. The quantity will be function of the sugar quality and the chemicals dosage.

This sugar must be recovered, as high pol material.

The final scum must be removed as final Mud, which will be discarded as a final paste material.

This Mud could be use, successfully, as fertilizer, as all the phosphate dosed to the process is separated in it, together with the organics.

The normal and more adequate to recover the sugar from the scum is the use of a 3 step flocculation, in

series.
